Warren County ESC 2019 Summer Enrichment Camps
 
Who says that summer camps cannot be fun and educational at the same time?
 
Warren County Educational Service Center offers unique opportunities for students in grades 5-12 interested in strengthening their knowledge in areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
 
Registration is now open for the following camps:
  • SINCLAIR WISTEM CAMP, $100 | June 10-13, 2019 | 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. | Female Freshman - Seniors.  The opportunities for women to have meaningful careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) have never been so open and varied in our history.  Over this 4-day camp experience, young women will have the chance to explore careers in STEM fields such as genetic engineering, biology, forensic science, chemistry, biomedical engineering, and consumer goods and materials engineering.  Through a series of field trip experiences to local STEM partner institutions, such as Proctor & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson: Ethicon Endosurgery, and the Center for Conservation and Research of Endangered Wildlife (CREW) lab at the Cincinnati Zoo, students will engage in hands-on activities bringing the possibilities of a STEM career to life.  Sinclair Community College science faculty will lead the camp creating an engaging educational opportunity to introduce some of the exciting options that a STEM career offers.
  • THE HOME DEPOT CONSTRUCTION CAMP, $80 | June 11-14, 2019 | 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. or 12:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. | Grades 6th – 8th. Learn from construction experts during both of these 4 half-day Construction Camps.  Receive an introduction to construction including use of both hand tools & power tools, measuring & cutting, framing, painting & finishing.  Students will build their own toolboxes and birdhouse, using the tools that they will receive just for attending Construction Camp. 
  • SINCLAIR WATERBOTICS STEM CAMP, $100 | June 17-21, 2019 | 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. | Grades 7th - 12th.  Waterbotics STEM Camp is designed to promote an interest in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.  STEM topics in the program include gear rations and programming (math), buoyancy and forces (science), and engineering design and problem solving (technology).  The curriculum is designed to satisfy the students’ need for knowledge as they apply the concepts in the project.  There will be no one asking “Why must I learn this?”.  The students will use the information immediately in a fun way thus learning information that will be used in the future as well.  They will rapid prototype their idea with Legos to complete challenges in the swimming pool both above and below the surface.
  • SAFETY TOWN, $15 | June 17-21, 2019 | 9:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. or 1:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m. | Ages 5-6 | Franklin High School.  Safety Town is a program designed to teach children between the ages of 5-6 (entering Kindergarten or 1st Grade) Safety appropriate for their age.  This half-day week long Safety Town will be taught by the City of Franklin Police Department and Warren County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of high school aged volunteers.  Topics to be covered are pedestrian safety, bike safety, stranger awareness, fire safety, use of seatbelts, gun safety, how to safely wait for and board a school bus and appropriate use of 9-1-1.
  • CINCINNATI STATE EXPLORING HEALTHCARE CAMP, $55 | July 30-August 2, 2019 | 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. | Grades 9th - 12th.  Students interested in the healthcare career field will participate in a robust job shadowing experience.  Campers will be introduced to healthcare career programs by exposing them to different career fields through instructor led lectures, engagement activities, and skill enhancement workshops.
