Who says that summer camps cannot be fun and educational at the same time?
 
Warren County Educational Service Center is proud to offer its sixth annual summer enrichment camps for Warren County and surrounding area students ranging in grades 5th – 12th.  The summer enrichment camps are made possible through partnerships with universities and businesses offering interest areas such as science, technology, engineering, and math fields.
 
Camp favorites like Construction, Raspberry Pi, Waterbotics STEM, LEGO Mindstorm and Exploring Healthcare are back, along with new camps like Fitness and Web Development.
2018 Warren County Educational Service Center Summer Enrichment Camps:
  • SINCLAIR GUITAR BUILDING CAMP, $130 | June 4-8, 2018 | 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. | Grades 7th – 12th
Have you ever wondered how a guitar is made?Students will build from a kit their own electric guitar from start to finish.They will learn along the way how everyday science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) apply to constructing a guitar.Students will also get to apply their own artistic expression to their guitar through finish.The end product will be a playable electric guitar to take home.
  • THE HOME DEPOT CONSTRUCTION CAMP, $80 | June 11-14, 2018 or July 16 - 19, 2018 | 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. | Grades 6th – 8th. What is better than building something with your own two hands and being able to give back to the community at the same time?  Learn from construction experts during both of these 4-day Construction Camps.  Receive an introduction to construction including use of both hand tools & power tools, measuring & cutting, framing, painting & finishing.  Using the tools that they will receive just for attending Construction Camp, students will build their own toolboxes.  June Camp students will build a shed from start to finish.  July Camp students will build porch swings & gardening boxes. 
  • FITNESS CAMP AT ANYTIME FITNESS, $55 | June 11-15, 2018 | 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. | Grades 9th - 12th.  Ever wonder what it takes to be a personal trainer or work in the fitness industry?  High school students interested in the Fitness Industry will gain more than just muscle.  During this week long Fitness Camp, students will learn about proper movement and technique, as well as nutrition and how to measure weight and body fat.
  • SINCLAIR WATERBOTICS STEM CAMP, $135 | June 18-22, 2018| 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. | Grades 7th - 12th.  Ever wanted to build a robot for the water?  Waterbotics STEM Camp is designed to promote interest in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematic (STEM) fields.  The camp offers students the opportunity to experience in these areas first-hand.  Students will have fun working in teams, learning math, science, and technology skills by designing and building aquatic LEGO robots and solving four design challenges.
  • SINCLAIR WISTEM CAMP, $145 | June 25-29, 2018 | 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. | Female Freshman - Seniors.  Young Women enjoy learning about science too!  WiSTEM (Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math) Camp will give young women in high school the opportunity to explore different fields of study associated with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.  Each day these young women will focus on an area of study like computer science, biology, chemistry, and physics.  The ultimate goal of the camp is to expose young women to the vast array of exciting careers and opportunities in STEM fields.  Field trips to the Cincinnati Zoo and Kings Island, along with hands-on activities are designed to inspire the development of passion for STEM. 
  • WILMINGTON COLLEGE A.C.C.E.S.S. CAMP, $175| June 27-29, 2018 | Overnight Camp | Sophomores & Juniors.  Wilmington College Academic College Classroom Experience for Student Success (A.C.C.E.S.S.) Camp is a college campus experience in the truest sense.  During this three-day overnight program, current high school sophomores and juniors will have the opportunity to not only gain college preparatory skills, but also immerse themselves in a real college experience.  Students will gain a valuable insight towards success and opportunities.
  • WEB DEVELOPMENT CAMP, $125 | July 9-13, 2018 | 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. | Grades 7th – 10th.
Ever wanted to create your own website?Students will learn the building blocks of websites including HTML and CSS and how to make them responsive for any device.Web Development Camp is a crash course on how to design and set up your very own Wordpress website.Students will work in teams to create example sites to practice common scenarios and solve real-world problems.Students will then independently create their own site on a topic of their choice.Javascript and JQuery may be used to add page enhancements and advanced functionality.At the end of the camp, students will be ready to independently continue with front-end web development.
  • SINCLAIR RASPBERRY PI CAMP, $190 | July 16-20, 2018 | 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. | Grades 7th – 12th
Have you ever wanted to build your own mini arcade cabinet?Now you can!The only camp of its kind in Southwest Ohio.Students will build and bring home a mini arcade cabinet, called a Cupcade, to play retro computer games.This arcade is based off of the single-board computer, the Raspberry Pi.In addition to technology and programming students will also solder their own micro controllers for the buttons and joysticks.
  • LEGO® MINDSTORM® CAMP, $125 | July 23-27, 2018 | 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. | Grades 5th – 7th.
Students will work in groups to build a LEGO Robot all while strengthening their skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).They will design and program land LEGO robots to solve problems through feedback from the robots reactions with the motors, lights, ultrasonic, and color sensors that are attached to the robots.
  • TECH CAMP, $80 | July 23-27, 2018 | 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. | Grades 6th - 8th.
Ever wonder how video games created?  Campers will be exposed to programming principles and problem-solving related to sequential reasoning using GameMaker to develop a video game.  Campers will then further develop this notion of sequential reasoning to a software-hardware combined scenario developing a small computer interfaced Arduino project that they can take home with them.  Topics covered will be program flow control, variable storage, counters, digital vs analog inputs and outputs, pulse width modulation, and basic electronics.  All software and files are available for students, so their fun can continue long after Tech Camp has ended.
  • CINCINNATI STATE EXPLORING HEALTHCARE CAMP, $55 | August 7 – 10, 2017 | 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. | Grades 9th - 12th.  Students interested in the healthcare career field will participate in a robust job shadowing experience.  Campers will be introduced to healthcare career programs by exposing them to different career fields through instructor led lectures, engagement activities, and skill enhancement workshops.
