ABOUT THE EVENT:
The Mason Challenger League is honored to be chosen to host the annual Jamboree in July 2018The  Jamboree concept started 25 years ago to provide the opportunity for athletes with special needs to participate in a tournament style event.  In the past 25 years, the Jamboree has grown to over 40 teams with approximately 450 athletes and over 1500 family and friends.
The benefits of the Jamboree for athletes, coaches, league officials and the hosting community are many. Challenger Leagues provide a form of exercise, an energy release and the pure enjoyment of playing on an organized sports team.  Participating in the Challenger league helps install a sense of self confidence and improve skills in relationship building and teamwork.  Sports are a quintessential part of childhood.  Children with special needs often face hurdles when they try to join a sports team.  The Challenger League makes modifications to accommodate the athlete’s needs, so they can have success while enjoying the game of baseball.  The Jamboree weekend showcases these successes and celebrates their accomplishments.

The camaraderie that develops among the athletes from all over the Buckeye State is also a large part of the weekend!  During the Jamboree, there are not only baseball games, but several fun opportunities for athletes and families to spend time together off the field.  During this time athletes and their families form friendships with other team’s athletes and families that last a lifetime.

It is a special weekend that Challenger teams look forward to each summer.  For many it is a chance to see a new city and add on some extra days to explore all the hosting community has to offer.  Between the baseball games, Jamboree activities and visiting a new city - Challenger athletes are making memories.

The Mason Challenger League is a division of Mason Youth Organization (MYO).  MYO is a nonprofit, all volunteer organization providing Little League Baseball, Softball and Challenger programs in the Mason area.     MYO introduced the Mason Challenger division to their program in the Fall of 2012.  Mason Challenger League is open to boy and girl athletes, ages 5 to 22, with special needs, in Mason and surrounding communities.  We currently have over 90 athletes on 8 teams.

Mason Challenger program is part of the Challenger Division of Little League for youth with physical and developmental challenges, helping them to enjoy the full benefits of Little League participation in an athletic environment structured to their abilities.  Challenger athletes can play with the same equipment on the same fields, while experiencing the joys of pulling together as a team, being cheered, and earning awards for their achievements.
