United Way of Warren County School Readiness Initiative Provides Almost 3000 Books

United Way of Warren County was able to provide almost 3,000 books to local preschool children thanks to the generosity of The Duke Energy Foundation, Lebanon Kiwanis, and Lebanon Lions Club. The books were delivered to every child in a Warren County Public School District Preschool classroom, the Warren County Career Center Preschool program, the Head Start Program, as well as the Kindergarten classes in Waynesville.  The book distribution is part of United Way of Warren County’s School Readiness Initiative that was launched in January 2015.

Aaron Reid, presdient and CEO, said, “The purpose of the book drive was to help preschool children not lose reading skills over the summer by providing them opportunities to read at home and continue to prepare for Kindergarten and beyond.”

If your organization would be interested in sponsoring the Fall Reading Project – “Let’s Keep Reading and Start Saving”, please contact Community Impact Director, Jerri Langworthy at 513-932-3987, Ext. 102 or jlangworthy@uwwcoh.org.
