On Saturday, September 16 the City of Mason will host the annual Heritage Festival and parade and the event is sure to include family fun for all ages! The event will begin at 10 a.m. with the annual parade followed by activities, live music entertainment, local food vendors and exhibitors throughout the afternoon. This FREE event is open to the public and will be held at the Mason Municipal Campus located at 6000 Mason-Montgomery Road.
 
EVENT SCHEDULE
10 a.m. – Parade Begins in Downtown Mason
11 a.m. – Heritage Festival Begins at the Mason Municipal Campus
12 p.m. – Live Music by the Refranes
2 p.m. – Live Music by the Jason Owens Band
4 p.m. – Event concludes
 
PARADE
The annual parade will begin at 10 a.m. at the Mason Downtown Plaza on West Main Street/ US Route 42 and will begin traveling east on Main Street and head south on Mason-Montgomery Road. The best area for parade viewing is on Mason-Montgomery Road near the Mason Municipal Center where viewers will be able to enjoy short performances by parade participants. 
 
ROAD CLOSURES
Beginning at 6:30 a.m. U.S. 42/Reading Road and Main Street from Fifth Avenue to Mason Montgomery Road will be closed due to parade staging and assembly. Mason Montgomery Road from Main Street to Lakeside Drive will be closed beginning at 9:30 a.m. for the duration of the parade. The road will re-open at the conclusion of the parade which is anticipated to occur at approximately 11:30 a.m. Detour signs will be posted prior to the parade. The Mason Municipal Campus can be accessed from Nixon Park Drive throughout the duration of the parade.
 
ACTIVITIES AND ENTERTAINMENT
Kids can enjoy access to a large variety of attractions such as various inflatables, a climbing wall, a corn maze, Segway and train rides, carnival games, crafts and more! Kids’ activities require a wristband that can be purchased inside Mason Community leading up to the event and at information tents on the day of the event. Kids zone wristbands are $5 and all proceeds raised will benefit the Mason Parks and Recreation Foundation’s goal of building the all-inclusive Common Ground Playground.
 
At 12 p.m. live music will begin on stage with The Refranes playing a mix of blues, soul and rock and roll! At 2 p.m. stick around for the best of modern country by the Jason Owens Band.
 
Parking for the event is available at Corwin Nixon Park, Pine Hill Lakes Park, Mason High School and Mason Middle School.
