For those of you who haven’t visited the Mason Veterans Memorial please take some time and do that.

When you are walking up from the Memorial you’ll see Family Bricks.

When you get to the center of the Memorial it is the Veteran Section.

Facing the flags, you’ll see the Veteran Bricks, Granite wall with all the branches of service and flags for all the branches of service.

To the left of the flags are more Family bricks, sponsors of the Memorial and a section of bricks dedicated to the USS Mason crewmembers.

As your walking back to the Pillars you’ll find (7) benches with the words Loyalty, Perseverance, Honor, Sacrifice, Dedication, Courage and the last bench is dedicated to the memory of 911.

The height of the Pillars are determined by the number Killed:
Revolutionary War
War of 1812
Civil War
Spanish American War
WWI
WWII
Korean War
Vietnam War
Persian Gulf War
A blank Pillar reserved for War on Terror
Pillar of Hope that there will be no more Wars

Between the Pillars are the conflicts that happened between the wars.

On the four sides of the Pillars are:
          Major Battles and Engagements
          Major US figures
          History of the War
On the fourth side is the number served, Battle deaths by branch, other deaths by branch, total deaths by branch, wounded by branch and prisoners of war.

At the end of the Memorial is POW/MIA eternal flame and the black granite wall of tears.

On the granite wall are three quotes by John F. Kennedy, Franklin D. Roosevelt and an unknown author.

The Mason Veterans Memorial is working on completing the War on Terror pillar to unveil on Memorial Day 2018. Six students from Mason High School did all the research for the pillar under the guidance of Ken Whitney. Those Mason High students are Lana Hayes, Ty Kerr, Ethan Heinlein, Spencer Gerdes and Will Caines. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication.
