Event Description:
The Carter Park StoryWalk is free, self-guided, and open during park hours.

What is a StoryWalk?
A StoryWalk transforms the pages of a children's book into signs that are laid out on a trail. Following the path of pages is a great way to keep your body and brain active and healthy!

The StoryWalk Project began in Vermont as temporary installations of laminated book pages. Temporary and permanent installations can now be found at museums, libraries, and parks across the country. Deerfield Township has adapted the original project to create a semi-permanent installation at Carter Park.

The StoryWalk Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition and the Kellogg Hubbard Library.

Our StoryWalk
The Carter Park StoryWalk is a semi-permanent installation. Permanent sign holders were installed along the paved pathway. The signs are interchangeable so that books may be rotated. The StoryWalk starts behind the Quilt Barn where you enter the paved path from the parking lot (turning right on the path to go through a wooded section and toward the pond). View a map of the StoryWalk.

During the summer of 2015, Deerfield Township's 6th - 8th grade Taking Action Summer Camp installed the StoryWalk at Carter Park. We appreciate the hard work of all the youth who participated! They marked the post locations, installed the posts and signs, painted animal tracks on the pathway, and wrote verbiage for the second StoryWalk signs.
